Upholstery cleaning
Carpet & upholstery soiling characteristics are very different because of their construction and usage, however their cleaning methods are similar. Carpet construction gives a vertical depth in the pile allowing soil to enter without becoming visible, often over time the soil must build up in layers before it can become visible noticeable. Upholstery fabric, in contrast, does not have the depth that carpet pile has and for that reason soiling shows much quicker.
You just bought furniture for the living room, so how do you maintain its fresh new appearance? Furniture is also subjected to a different set of soiling conditions than carpeting. Areas that come in contact with animals or human body will often show a build up of soils and oils quicker. This can begin to cause discoloration in a short time and can develop into a non-restorable condition if it is left untreated. Furniture and fabric manufacturers recommend that consumers not wait until severe soiling occurs because the greater the soiling, the less the likelihood of restoring the fabric's original color, appearance and texture, and the greater adverse effect on indoor environmental quality.
To keep your furniture clean, its necessary to conduct routine maintenance, including periodic cleaning by a certified technician.
Tips to help keep upholstery looking its best
Control soil by using arm caps and rotating seat cushions frequently to prolong life appearance of areas prone to wear and tear.
Remove dry soil by vacuuming and, depending on the fabric, brushing to remove dust and soil particles.
Increased cleaning may be required when fabric is subjected to heavy use, or when it is located in homes occupied with persons with allergies or respiratory sensitivities.
